Yes, I work in Barnsley. It is about ten miles from my base in Mexborough, and three customers there have reviewed jobs of mine since June, each for a gutter or downpipe that was leaking or needed repairing. Gutter repairs, fascia boards and gutter cleaning are what I get booked for there.
What does a typical Barnsley job look like?
Take the most recent one. In September 2026 a customer posted a gutter repair. I fitted them in the next morning, arrived on time, made the repair, and cleared out the gutter while I was up there.
Most of my Barnsley work runs along those lines. Of the jobs reviewed on MyBuilder, nearly all are repairs rather than cleans: a leak, a pipe come loose, a board come away. Very few start as a simple request to empty a gutter.
Where does gutter cleaning in Barnsley fit in, then?
Usually alongside a repair rather than on its own. The customer who booked in 2022 put it well, posting the job as clean the guttering and fix it if needed. It is the right order to do it in, because a joint is far easier to judge once the run is empty. Not sure yours needs it? Look for rain spilling off the front lip in a downpour, a green streak on the wall below it, or weeds growing out of the gutter.
The clean itself happens from the ground. A vacuum on an extending pole lifts out the moss, leaves and silt, the downpipes get cleared, and none of it is left on your path. There is more on the method on the gutter clearing page.
Call it a downfall pipe if you like
Downfall pipe, downpipe, drainpipe: it is the same pipe, and one leaking in August 2026 was a job of mine, which the customer called a super quick response. If water is escaping from a joint in it, clearing the pipe alone will not usually cure that.
What else has gone wrong with gutters here?
A leaking gutter repaired, September 2021.
A gutter re-fitted on a terrace house, April 2022.
A gutter repair in July 2023 that turned into a few jobs, all of them sorted.
A job posted as rotten guttering, July 2024, with some other issues to help with once I was there.
A leaking gutter put right, June 2026.
Leaks at joints, runs that have dropped and sections that have worked loose are covered in more detail on gutter repairs.
From a loose joint to new boards
A section lifted off at the joint, still holding water and moss.
Fascia, gutter and downpipe all renewed together.
Why is a fascia board part of a gutter job?
Because the gutter brackets are screwed into it, so a gutter is only as secure as the board behind it. Two of my Barnsley jobs have been fascias, one of them in March 2025 with the fascias and the guttering replaced together.
You can usually spot a failing board from the ground. The paint flakes off it, the timber just under the gutter looks dark or feels soft, and in the end the gutter starts to pull away from the wall. Catch it at the first of those and a repair is far more likely.
Where the timber is still sound I repair it rather than replace it, and the gutter goes back up afterwards. How I decide which, and what it involves, is on the fascias and soffits page.
Round here
November 2023, Barnsley: a downpipe that had come away needed reconnecting, along with some other outside jobs. I turned up when I said I would and the work was done that morning.
All completed for the agreed price.
MyBuilder review, Barnsley, September 2026
Is Barnsley too far out for a small job?
No. At ten miles it sits well inside the twenty I cover, so a job here carries no travel charge and is priced like any other: on what needs doing, how high it is, how easy it is to reach, and how long it has been going on. Wombwell and Hoyland are nearer to me than Barnsley itself, and so are Goldthorpe, Thurnscoe and Bolton upon Dearne. Every town I work in is on the areas page.
Other things people ask
Can you replace just the stop end on a gutter?+
Yes. The stop end, or end cap, closes off the end of a run, and when it fails the water pours straight out of the end. I fixed one in June 2023, within a week of the job being posted.
Can a fascia that has pulled away be fixed back on?+
Often, if the board itself is sound. I reattached one in Barnsley in December 2024. If the timber has softened, fixing it back only buys a short time, and I will tell you so.
Will I see what you found up there?+
Yes. You get before and after photos of the work. On one repair in September 2026 I also photographed a couple of other problems the customer had not known were there.
Do you only do gutters in Barnsley?+
No. Roofs, drives and conservatory roofs are all on my list there too, and each has its own page under services. So far, though, customers there have mostly booked me for gutters, downpipes and fascias.
How do I get booked in?
Call or WhatsApp 07515 154559 between 8am and 6pm on a weekday, or send the details through the quote form. A photo of the problem helps. I will come and see it, tell you what it needs and what it costs, and the look is free with no call-out fee. If it needs one small part rather than a new run, the one part is what you pay for.
