Gutter cleaning in Wath upon Dearne

Stood on the lawn, you cannot see into your own gutter, so you are taking somebody's word that it was emptied. When I do gutter cleaning in Wath upon Dearne you get photos from before and after, so you are not.

How do you know a gutter was really cleaned?

You do not, unless somebody shows you. A gutter sits above head height and faces the sky. From the path all you get is the underside, and that looks the same full as it does empty. It is an easy job to be charged for and never see.

So I photograph the inside of the gutter before I touch it, and again once it is clear. Both come to you. You do not have to be in for that. If you booked it for somebody else, you still get them.

He showed me photos before and after of the job he'd undertaken and he was reasonably priced.

That is a MyBuilder review of a gutter clearing job from November 2021. MyBuilder files it under Rotherham, and I have no review that names Wath itself, so take it for what it is: a customer describing the same habit.

What the second photo is for

  • A white gutter cleared down to the plastic beside a mossy tiled roof, with gardens far below
An emptied run. This is the picture that tells you the job was done.
  • An empty white gutter with a thin crack across its base, under the edge of grey concrete tiles
With the silt out, a crack shows in the base. Nobody spots that from the lawn.

What can gutter cleaning in Wath upon Dearne show up?

More than you would expect, because an empty gutter hides nothing. Silt covers a lot. Once it is gone you can see a joint that has pulled apart, a hairline crack along the bottom, or a length that holds a puddle because it no longer slopes towards the downpipe.

If the after photo has one of those in it, I point it out and tell you what putting it right involves. Sometimes that is a new joint or a bracket, which is a gutter repair. Sometimes it is nothing worth spending on yet. Either way the picture is yours, and what happens next is up to you.

From your first message to the last photo

  1. You send me a picture

Taken from the garden or the pavement is fine. WhatsApp it to 07515 154559 with a line about what you have noticed.

  2. I come and look

Wath is about three miles from me in Mexborough, straight along the A6023. Seeing the house is free, and it is how the price gets decided.

  3. The gutters are vacuumed out

I work from the ground with a pole that reaches three storeys. The downpipes are cleared too, and what comes out goes away with me.

  4. The photos arrive

Before and after, plus anything I found on the way round that you ought to know about.

Would my neighbour pay the same as me?

Not always, even in the same style of house. An extension that blocks the way round the back, a third storey, a run nobody has emptied in fifteen years: each of those changes the work, so each changes the money. It is also why you will not find a price list here. The one thing that never goes on the bill is the trip over, because Wath sits well inside my twenty miles. And if the job proves smaller than it looked from below, you are charged for the smaller job.

Short answers

Do I have to ask for the photos?

No. They are part of the job, not an extra. You get them at the end without having to chase.

How often will I need you back?

It depends on the trees. With branches over the roof, about once a year. With none nearby, every two or three years is usually enough. I do not sell yearly contracts, so you ring when it needs doing.

Will there be a mess left on the path?

No. The vacuum pulls the muck down the pole and into a drum, so it is not dropped over the edge onto your flags or flower beds.

Is Wath treated as a Rotherham job or a local one?

A local one. The address says Rotherham and the postcode is S63, but Wath is far nearer to me than Rotherham town is. It makes no difference to the price either way.

What if it is more than the gutters?

Then say so when you message. I also take moss off roofs by hand, which is roof cleaning, put right fascias and soffits, and clean drives and patios. How the vacuum works is covered on the gutter clearing page, and there is a longer piece on how often gutters need doing.

West Melton, Brampton and Manvers are covered along with Wath. Further out there are pages for Mexborough, Barnsley and Rotherham, and the areas page names the rest.

Shall I come and have a look?

Message or ring 07515 154559, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, or use the quote form. You pay nothing for the visit or the quote. If the gutters turn out to be fine, I will tell you so and leave it there.
